SR: TtR Märklin and La Città

Another great gaming session with Shelak and Raven. It was the first time they played Ticket to Ride: Märklin Edition. They are both very experienced TtR players and got into the new passenger rules quickly. The Western section of the map became extremely crowded in the first couple of turns. We blocked each other out of the game. It became pretty apparent that I could not meet one of my bigger tickets after turn three. What a shame. I tried to make it up by placing my passengers strategically but in the end I turned in last. Shelak won the game, followed by Raven.

We had recently played La Città for the first time. Although I pretty much failed the first game (I guess I was being to greedy) I like the game a lot. This time, I was better prepared, as I had listened to Mark Johnson's Boardgames To Go show All About La CIttà (#53b). Mark and Jonathan advised to keep a very good eye on your resource management. And I did. I was able to balance my food resources a little bit better and kept ahead of my citizens at all times. This made the game feel a lot better for me.Although I did not win I enjoyed La Città a lot and would like to play it again rather soon. The final score:
Raven - 40 VP
Naturelich - 35 VP
Shelak - 32 VP

Hey, I'm glad our podcast contributed to your enjoyment of the game! What did you think about the game's fiddliness? If you've heard my latest show, I'm trying to figure out why the fiddliness in some games bothers me, while in others (like La Citta) I'm not as distracted by it.
