SR: Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico - Final results
Puerto Rico is among the "Top Naturelich Plays" this year. I only got introduced to the game recently and have enjoyed playing it ever since. I have not at all reached a competitive level, but this game is just fun, even if you are loosing. This session was the first time Raven and Shelak got to play the game. The rules were explained quickly. Raven and I took a Hazienda early on which lead to us having a nice (short-term) advantage over Shelak. He himself got his production running pretty quickly - Tobacco, Sugar and Indigo. Raven invested heavily in Coffee and Corn. Unfortunately I was unable to get my production chain ready in time. The other two got a head start which was difficult to make up for.
Raven was the first to ship her corn, while the men were a little bit behind. In a subsequent turn, Captain Shelak shipped a lot of goods to the old world. While Raven was able to keep her lead, Naturelich had trouble getting his stuff onto the fleet. Therefore, a lot of my goods got discarded. Argh - what a mistake. Well played, Captain! :D
The final score did not come as a surprise:
Raven: 25, Shelak: 17, Naturelich:15

Puerto Rico - winning in a sepia tone

Those are very very low scores. Are you sure you got them right?

I also thought, the game was kind of short, it seems like there was only an opening, a missed the middle- and endgame... Maybe we should throw another eye in the instructions...

Yes, it was a really short game, but I think I like this game, too. The last games you bought are all something for me.... Looking forward to another session and I promise this time without thinking about my work between the turns.
