The Thirteen Wonders
After our Easter brunch we started with a game of Mah-Jongg. The first few rounds went by pretty quickly. Naturelich was able to gain a small advantage over the other three. We encountered some really really strange situations were we all discarded the same tile (a red dragon) one after the other. Two of us even drew their tile from the wall. Looking at it now, we can only interpret this as a sign: the God of the Odds must have had his special day today. And it should become better...

All of a sudden, I received a very interesting tile combination to start with: three different winds (the North wind even as duplicate), two different dragons and a 1 and 9 of circles. Wow! I immediately decided to go for The Thirteen Wonders. The Thirteen Wonders consists of one of each of 1’s, 9’s, one of each wind and one of each dragon plus one duplicate. Getting The Thirteen Wonders as a winning hand is extremely rare in Mah-Jongg. This hand is called a limit hand and scores maximum points (500) for the winning player. In fact, it is the only hand which can steal from a hidden Kong. The odds to complete this hand are almost non-existent.
It was a big gamble, but luck was shining on my gaming soul today. I was able to finish my first limit hand of Mah-Jongg, ever, The Thirteen Wonders. Here is the proof:

And because I am so proud, here is another close-up:

We have a saying in German: Wenn es läuft, dann läuft es. And it went really well: since I was East wind at the time, everyone had to pay me double. Altogether, I received 3000 points for this. What a great day of luck... :D :D :D
Maybe I should quickly get a lottery ticket today...

The question, as always: Do you buy the lottery ticket, because clearly today is luckier than any other day...or do you avoid buying a lottery ticket, since clearly all your luck has been concentrated in this one magnificent feat, and is now used up?
The choice is yours...

Well, since I am a notorious optimist (I even believe in Germany winning the FIFA Worldcup this year, haha) I would certainly buy a ticket today.
However, I cannot buy a lottery ticket today as all lottery shops are closed down on Easter. So luckily, I don't really have to make a decision. But I can still enjoy the one day of good luck in gaming.
Let's see what the night brings...

Even though I have not a clue what Mah-Jongg is all about, it sounds like you've completed something very rare and complicated! Congrats for this one!!
