High Bohn and Bohnanza session

We closed the evening of gaming with a session of Bohnanza. We decided to throw in the High Bohn expansion as we had not played this combination before. This expansion had been published by Lookout Games, but we used the Amigo version. I guess there is not much difference between them.
The High Bohn expansion adds a little bit of a Wild West theme to the game: when cashing in your beans you can invest them in special building cards that grant additional advantages (I deliberately use "invest" as the 1-4 talers are not lost but also count for your final score). For each bean type this expansion includes a set of four special cards - the more expensive the card, the bigger the advantage you receive. A nice strategic option is added to the game: if a player collects four or more different buildings they score additional victory points. This is very lucrative if you manage to get the full western city with a bank, saloon, goldmine, the general store, the Sheriff's office etc.

The session was real fun and we had a lot of trading going on with a lot of favors being promised back and forth. In the end it got really really close and we had a fun last game of the day (or better: night).

I like Bohnanza, I do like the Expansion and I definitly like Rahbohnzel and Lady Bohn. Do I like High Bohn also? Not that much... Everybody was more or less reading the buildings and their explanions, no one really had a clou what was on the cards... Maybe with more exercise this game will become more understood....
