Memoir '44: Sainte Mère-Eglise

Memoir '44 in VASSAL - Playing under a high resolution (1920x1200)
This evening Shelak and I started our first online game of Memoir '44 via VASSAL. We decided to take an easy scenario first to get acquainted with the VASSAL user interface and playing options. It took us a little while to understand all the options. The UI is not self-explanatory, but Brummbär's tutorials and hints were enough to get us going eventually. After the first hurdles were taken we immediately started playing. Since we had started a little bit late in the evening we were not able to complete the game, but I have added some images which might give you some impression of how lucky the dice were already rolling for me...

First question:
Any recommendations for the next moves? The Allies (green) have to move...
Second question:
Can you play Memoir '44 via email on VASSAL? Does anyone now this? I thought I read something about the general ability of VASSAL supporting play-by-email but I am not sure whether this works with Memoir '44 modules?Any hints are greatly appreciated...

I don't know much about Memoir or Vassal, but I do know it's a lot better with Skype or some other VOIP. Did you try it?

VoIP or Skype sounds like a great idea. It was pretty bad moving the pieces around and using the chat only. We didn't want to use regular phone (for obvious reasons) but using the internet might be an excellent idea.
When we continue over the weekend we should try this. I need to get some headgear...

Definitely! Google Talk is probably a better option if neither of you are on Skype.
