Christmas Gaming Session

Ticket to Ride Europe (final position)

The Christmas gaming session(s) started with a game of Ticket to Ride Europe. Kicking off with a classic that everyone likes is probably a good idea. Unfortunately, we had to do without our fourth player: so it was up to red, yellow and black to compete for the European train network.

I kept all four starting tickets, Edinburgh-Athina, Palermo-Constantinople, Brest-Marseille and Zurich-Budapest. It became pretty obvious right from the start that Kleki-Petra had to complete Cadiz-Stockholm. She also successfully completed the long 21-point-route and continued to connect Petrograd, Kiev and several cities in between. MM kept the Palermo-Moscow ticket and headed for Rome. This caused a little bit of blocking between the two of us but I was able to keep my routes connected.
The two ladies took huge amounts of tickets, whereas I was stuck with the original four. It didn't look too good as Kleki-Petra had only three trains left, while I still needed to claim two routes.
In the end, I completed all my tickets, put the last waggon onto the board and took a big gamble as my last action of the game: I drew another set of tickets. It felt like a necessity as the others had about 8-9 tickets. But it was Christmas so I got very lucky and found Zurich-Brindisi which I had completed already. MM and Kleki-Petra had all placed several stations. I therefore hoped to get a little closer by scoring my stations plus I had high hopes for the longest route. But, Kleki-Petra beat me by one waggon! 42:41! This was exactly the one waggon that made the difference between winning and loosing. In the end, Kleki-Petra was 19 points ahead of me, with a wonderful 149 points. A victory well deserved.

After Ticket to Ride, we continued with a session of Die Dolmengötter. The game is still a lot of fun for everyone in the group. Replayability value continues to increase. MM seems to become the real champ of this game!

Die Dolmengötter

After having finished Die Dolmengotter we continued with a new game: Aqua Romana. I had played and bought this game at Essen 2005 with Shelak and Raven. I explained the rules and at first the game seemed rather complicated for the others. But after a few turns, we eventually got used to the tactics and had a good amount of fun. I am not sure whether the game will come back to the table ever so oftern again, but I certainly like it. It's definiteyl not the best game ever, but if you get a chance, you might want to have a closer look. The following pics should give you a better impression of our session.
