Die Dolmengötter session
Die Dolmengötter seemed very intriguing to me during Spiel 2005 in Essen. The Spielbox game review (which arrived a day before Essen) gave high praise to the game. I therefore bought a copy of this Eggert Spiele publication and after having enjoyed the first session, today, I think the buy was totally worth it. The rules are easy to learn, the game has a nice feel and theme. It looks a little bit basic and simple on first sight but when you actually play it and handle the huge number of wooden pieces, everything falls into place. Die Dolmengötter is interactive and fun, yet relatively strategic and complex. I have to get more gaming experience to write a detailed review (which I hope to get around to during the next few weeks) but I wanted to share this two-player session report with you.

Die Dolmengötter close-up
Explaining the rules took approximately 5 minutes. The rules are few and relatively easy to learn. One thing was a little bit confusing, but maybe my explanation wasn't all too good. After starting we quickly noticed each other's mistakes. The learning curve is steep and it will probably take a few games to climb it to a decent level. In a two player game, the board is not really crowded and the stones you need to score points are a scarce resource. It was a fun game which Naturelich won by just a couple of points...

The final result
Although the game was good with two players it's probably even more challenging and fun with three or four players. Let's see who often this game returns to the playlist...
