Session reports, September 10th

The weather was great today, so we decided to play outside under a sun shade. The decision was taken to play a round of Die Gärten der Alhambra . We had not played this game in quite a while. It is not a light game and probably not one of the game group's favorites, but you want to play the games you paid for (at least every once in a while). Below, you can see how Kleki-Petra (purple) steals a 5-point tile from Naturelich (green ).

In the end, it was a very close game. Below is the final result of quite a close game:

Naturelich (98), Kleki-Petra (94), MM (71)

Kleki-Petra then suggested a game of Der Palast der Alhambra (this is one of her favorites). We had played the 2003 SdJ-winner very often but preferred Ticket to Ride for a long time now.

Below, you can see pictures from the endgame and the final result:

MM (138), Naturelich (123), Kleki-Petra (120)

Afterwards we started a session of Carcassonne. Since I have been writing a lot about this game, this was probably more my choice. I had bought the two expansions Carcassonne - Der Fluss II and Carcassonne - The Princess and The Dragon. These two expansions work nicely together. We therefore played a huge game including all except Carcassonne - Traders and Builders. I shall try to write a more comprehensice review on these two new expansions. To put it in a nutshell: our game group didn't like the gameplay mechanic of The Dragon too much. It's too much chasing around and the spirit of Carcassonne is somewhat spoiled. In the end, Naturelich scored a little bit better than Kleki-Petra followed by MM. After this game we got PJs new Weber grill to work and enjoyed some terribly great steaks and sausages.
