Essen 2005 rumors: Ticket to Ride PC game

Rumor has it: Days of Wonder is said to publish Ticket to Ride as a PC game in October. This game will probably be introduced during games fair in Essen 2005. The computer version is said to include the original Ticket to Ride board (USA), Ticket to Ride Europe and a brandnew map.

By introducing a map of Switzerland (for 2-3 players), the publisher hopes to boost sales of this game. I assume the economics of this game are challenging because both existing Ticket to Ride games can be played online. The game has a big online-fan community. Thus, it's pretty easy to find opponents online. My question is: who needs the PC game? If you own the boardgame versions there's nothing but the new map of Switzerland and maybe the option to play a single-player game against an artificial intelligence. We shall see what additional features the multi-human player mode offers and whether the new map makes this a worthy purchase. Naturelich, as a hardcore Ticket to Ride fan, I will buy it, but what about the rest? Why not publish another TtR boardgame version with an extended ruleset?

Note: a fan-produced map of Switzerland already exists to shorten the time before the release. If you like, you can read get more information in one of my previous posts.
