Amazon.de offered 5% to 10% discount coupons for games (earlier this months). I decided to get Caracassonne - Die Stadt together with some other games. Today, Kleki-Petra and MM joined me for the first game ever. We had to struggle a little bit with the rules as they stretched longer and longer. Everything is explained is in such a great detail it is almost a pain. Maybe the publishers should have put a quick overview sheet in the box (for experienced Carcassonne players). The rules are not difficult, the game is really easy to grasp but they are explained far too meticulously for my taste. Anyway, the game is similar to the original Carcassone but contains some nice additions. These elements add different ways of scoring points. As a result it is almost possible to plan much ahead: you can plan your immediate turn and maybe look at what's possible strategically, but on the tactical level, I felt there was little one could do.

Anyway. Kleki-Petra really got into the game quickly and was leading already very early in the game. We others never got closer to her again, even after I suggested some acts of collusion and conspiracy. She was just too good.

Nonetheless, we all liked the game very much and I am definitely looking forward to playing it again soon...
